As far as McMenamins goes, this is the best location I've visited so far. My partner and I visited to get our passport stamps, and were able to hit up every bar. They were super accommodating with getting us our "pint with the pup," experience stamp, even though there were limited areas to go with a dog. We played pool in the basement, where it costs $5 an hour but the equipment is in very good shape (no wobbly tables like at some bars.) We then walked around the premises and had dinner at the Power House. I ordered the Reuben and my wife ordered the Dilly Tuna Sandwich, which she added cheddar and our server asked if she wanted it grilled (she said yes, as she likes tuna melts.)

The reuben was one of the best I've had in the Portland area. The meat was nice and thick, with just the right amount of sauerkraut and 1000 island dressing. It wasn't a saucy mess like many places, or that thin-cut garbage I see many places peddle (that's only acceptable in a pastrami dip.) I washed the sandwich down with the Marzen, which was exceptional for a McMenamins' brew. Overall a great meal, topped off with a very good seasonally appropriate beer.

Grounds are well maintained and include a golf course, winery, distillery, brewery and more (I think there's a concert venue too.) We originally arrived to go for the daily 3pm winery tours, though were told they were only occurring during the week (contrary to the website, which says they are hosted on weekends between mid-September and October.) Kind of disappointing considering that was the main purpose of our trip, and I really think they should update the website so people aren't misled. Otherwise, we had a great Sunday here and I'd love to return for the tour.

If you love wine, beer or spirits, when in Oregon y'all have to take a tour of a winery, distillery or brewery.  Nestled in Troutdale County lies a cozy, quaint Edgefield McMenamins, just a 20 minute drive from downtown Portland.  This place is a nice, quick getaway from the city!  Book a room, plan an event, take a tour, walk the grounds, attend a concert, live entertainment, plan a wedding ceremony, attend Oktoberfest, visit the gift shop, hang out with friends and stay warm around a fire (beer or wine in hand of course LOL)..... are just some of the things Edgefield McMenamins offers.

Our tour guide gave us a brief history of the place as we walked the grounds and breathed in the fresh air of nature.  The place was originally built as a country poor farm.  Original settlers had living quarters, meals, etc., in exchange for work in the fields.  Edgefield is approximately 74 acres of farmland near the Columbia River Gorge Scenic Area.  The main building is primarily a hotel/hostel.  We noticed there were no TVs in any of the rooms during the tour, as they encourage the great outdoors and lush scenery.  There were artwork galore throughout all of the buildings here, which probably dates back several decades.  These are all the original buildings built in the early 1900's, with just some light touch-ups and renovations here and there.  Very lovely.  But.... Enough of the history lesson, hahaha.

The food, wine, beer and spirits here are exceptional!  We got to sample a lot of them.  I loved their red table wine .  They have private rooms for events, and restaurants/bar seating throughout the grounds.  I really loved the way they prepared the beef brisket and salmon, so soft, tender, juicy.  And OMG, their desserts; my favorite being that chocolate/vanilla swirled brownie.  I noticed none of the wine bottles served had a UPC code, as I wanted to scan and see where I could pick up a bottle outside their grounds, or even back home in Hawaii.  It appears they serve primarily local, on their grounds or maybe even restaurants in Oregon.  Very boutique.

Everybody here was amazing:  our host, service, bartenders, the tour guides, everybody.  If you're ever in Troutdale County or nearby (we stayed in Portland), be sure to add Edgefield McMenamins to your list of sights to see. :)

Love it all! This is my happy place that I go to rejuvenate and fill my soul with goodness! lol. Fun place and a beautiful assault to the senses. It is all a resort service oriented business should be:

Sight:  A lovely vision of antiquity blended with state-of-the-art brewing equipment.
Smell: Flowers, landscaping to spirits and cuisine.
Sound:  Big name musicians (Stevie Nicks has played here), happy humans socializing and drinking to the free music in the winery of talented local musicians.
Touch - SPA! Massage and caressing waters of the heated pool.
Taste - wine to whisky and locally grown ingredients from McMenamin's own garden.
Must experience if you come to the area! Just take a walk around and rejuvenate yourself!

What a cool place! I can only speak for the Powet Station, surrounding bars and outdoor spaces. I did not stay at the hotel or use the spa. The service at the Power Station was fast, they accommodated our large party with a nice area off the back where we could all sit together. I had the veggie burger with fries and a Pinot Nior. Everything was delicious and the wine was incredible. After dinner we wandered out to the grounds and had drinks at two quaint little bars. There was a cozy fire going outside as well. We had hoped to go into the hotel and play games and hang out but there was a water main break and the hotel was evacuated. However that didn't spoil our fun. We will definitely be back and I would love to stay and fully experience this
    Magical place another time.

Gorgeous place. The atmosphere was so amazing. We went there for the wine tasting. Well we definitely had more than that. The service was exceptional. All the servers were so welcoming. We decided to try the main dish. Delicious
